July 4 Independence Day
Today we celebrate Independence Day. Much has transpired over the past 232 years. However, what about you? – your Independence Day. If you’re on this blog site you are probably active in safety and health program development. You are searching for ideas, thoughts and concepts to improve your impact on your organization. What do you need independence from?
Are you independent from
- Old habits of program delivery? What have you learned in the past month about your specific disciple? New techniques of training and adult learning? Methods to communicate?
- Traditional program structures that may have worked years ago and with changes in your organization have far less impact that they once had?
- Old methods of dealing with managers, supervisors and employees? – are new personnel now arriving that have different ideas and thoughts?
- Limited computer skills? – How literate are you now in the age of Web 2.0?
- Believing you are indispensable to your organization? How so? Are you keeping up with the changes that constantly occur in the culture of an organization? Are you considered old hat?
- Personal habits that limit your promotability, command presence, networking and social skills?
We could go on – How are you managing yourself so that you are considered a Leader and not just the technician dependent on regulatory compliance and not really a member of the real “Team”.
How do you get independent?
