How to Use HootSuite

April 05, 2009 By: webmaster Category: hootsuite, screen cast, social networking

Doing a quick recap, Brightkit was a Twitter toolbox that enabled users to create and manage multiple profiles at the same time. It also had a pre-scheduling functionality along with analytics and statistics for you to weigh up your tweeting performance.
New updates include support for RSS feeds (that is, you can use HootSuite to feed your blog to Twitter a la Twitterfeed) and a bookmarklet that goes by the name of “Hootlet” for instantly tweeting the URL of any page you are visiting on the spot.

Best twitter desktop software – TweetDeck

April 05, 2009 By: webmaster Category: networking, social networking, twitter

Anybody using Twitter will discover the mass of tweets can be somewhat overwhelming and difficult to digest. TweetDeck enables users to split their main Twitter feed (All Friends) into columns allowing a broader overview of tweets.

But at the heart of TweetDeck is its ability to group people together and search across the twittersphere. Grouping friends or work colleagues separately means you have a window on all aspects of your twitter life. Searching across the twittersphere means you can monitor any subject within Twitter. These additional columns automatically update so providing the user with a very effective dashboard of realtime information.

Mississippi Trench Death Leads to $73,500 Fine — Occupational Health & Safety

April 05, 2009 By: webmaster Category: Fatality, citations, trenching, update

Apr 04, 2009

OSHA has cited Phillips Construction in Hernando, Miss., with nine safety violations following an October 2008 trench collapse in Horn Lake, Miss., that resulted in the death of one worker and injury to another. The total $73,500 in proposed penalties the company faces includes one willful citation that alone is worth $49,000 for failing to provide cave-in protection, such as shoring, sloping, or a trench box, for its employees. The agency defines a willful violation as one committed with plain indifference to or intentional disregard for employee safety and health.

In addition, the agency has cited six serious safety violations with $21,000 in proposed penalties for the company’s failing to develop and maintain safety and health programs, provide training on trenching hazards, provide personal protective equipment, provide a means of egress from the trench, keep excavated soil at least two feet away from the trench edge, and remove surface encumbrances from the trench side. A serious violation is issued when death or serious physical harm is likely to result from hazards about which the employer knew or should have known.

OSHA has proposed $118,650 in fines against 4 Brothers Stucco Co., a Cleveland, Tenn.-based stucco contractor, for 15 alleged repeat and serious violations of safety standards, making this the third consecutive year the agency has cited the Cleveland, Tenn.-based stucco contractor. OSHA’s inspection found employees working on scaffolding, in an aerial lift, and on the roof at a worksite in Torrington, Conn., were exposed to falls of up to 22 feet. The inspection also identified electrical, overhead, and chemical hazard communication deficiencies at the worksite.

"These sizable fines reflect both the seriousness and recurring nature of several of the conditions cited here," said C. William Freeman III, OSHA’s area director in Hartford, Conn. "Keep in mind that falls are the number one killer in construction work and can occur in an instant. Be it a scaffold, an aerial lift, or a roof, proper and effective fall protection must be in place and in use at all times."
