Worker killed in garage collapse in South L.A. | L.A. Now | Los Angeles Times

A 38-year-old construction worker was killed this morning in South Los Angeles when a garage collapsed on him during a remodeling project, the Los Angeles Fire Department said.

Firefighters arrived at about 9:40 a.m. to a single-family home along the 1500 block of East 51st Street just as  other workers were pulling the man out from the debris, said Fire Spokesman Brian Humphrey. The unidentified man was pronounced dead at the scene. It was unknown if he was a licensed construction worker or a day laborer, Humphrey said.

Industrial accident: man trapped by machine in Dandenong South | Herald Sun

UPDATE: 6.30pm A DANDENONG south factory worker whose lower body was trapped in a machine for 90 minutes is in a serious condition at the Alfred Hospital.

WorkSafe is investigating tbe acoustic parts factory after the 29-year-old man fell into a machine he was attempting to repair this morning.

His lower body was trapped in industrial machinery for about 90 minutes at the Ink Corporation.

An ambulance service spokesman said they were called to a factory in South Park Drive, Dandenong South about 11am where emergency workers were trying to free the man.

A man was hurt an industrial accident in Lockland this morning.
Crews were called to Airworks in the 600 block of Shephard Lane around 10:10 a.m. 
The man was working on the braking system of a semi trailer. The vehicle rolled forward, wedging the man against the wheel, but did not roll over him.

Brant County OPP and the Ministry of Labour are investigating a fatal industrial accident in which a man was pinned and crushed beneath a pile of cement blocks.

Police and volunteer firefighters from Cainsville and Tranquility bases were summoned to HGC Management Inc. on Shaver Road around 9 a.m. Wednesday to find a man pinned between fork lift and cement blocks, said Deputy Chief Geoff Hayman of the Brant County fire department.

"Some cement blocks that were part of a retaining wall became unstable and tumbled against the man, pinning him against the fork lift," said Hayman.

A 50-year-old construction worker crushed by a two-ton dirt grader Wednesday morning has died.

The man, who hasn’t been named, died at a Modesto hospital, sheriff’s spokesman Tom MacKenzie said.

He was bending down to pickup some debris at about 9:45 a.m. when he was knocked over and run over by a tractor, Calfire Battalion Chief Ed Banks said.

OTTAWA — Ontario’s Ministry of Labour is investigating the death of a 19-year-old man who was crushed between two pieces of heavy equipment Wednesday while working at a new Kanata housing development.

The man was distributing pay slips to fellow Colautti Construction Ltd. employees at 7:30 a.m. when he was caught between a large excavator and a backhoe.

A man working at the McDuffie Coal Terminal on the Mobile River was killed Tuesday morning when he was buried in coal.
Witnesses told Mobile Fire-Rescue that 53-year-old Larry George slipped and fell head first into a pile of coal while a rail car above was dumping its load. George was buried underneath 100 feet of coal, most likely suffocating him. Co-workers uncovered before firefighters arrived.

A 56-year-old Joshua man was crushed to death by a 10,000-pound piece of steel that fell off a crane he was operating, Fort Worth police said today.

Johnny Little was pronounced dead about 6:20 a.m. Wednesday, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office. The accident happened in the 9200 block of South Freeway in Fort Worth at Delta Steel.

Man’s arm crushed at Port Colborne Drop Forge – Welland Tribune – Ontario, CA

PORT COLBORNE — A Port Colborne Drop Forge employee was airlifted to hospital after an 8,000-lb. press crushed his arm Wednesday.

EMS and Niagara Regional Police responded at about 9 a.m.

Police said the man had been completing maintenance on the press, when it unexpectedly dropped down.

Due to the seriousness of the injury, he was airlifted to Hamilton General Hospital, where was last listed by police as in serious but stable condition.

The Ministry of Labour is investigating the incident. It issued one order against the company under the Ontario Health and Safety Act.

Ministry spokesman Bruce Skeaff said the formal order was issued when the ministry arrived on site Wednesday, The order states when machinery and various devices are cleaned and maintained they must be stopped and can’t be restarted while cleaning and maintenance is being performed.
